Working Structure Fire

At 10:00 am, Dispatch notified Hampton Bays FD of a commercial fire alarm at a business on the west side of our district, as Chiefs and other personnel were responding to that alarm, we were notified of a reported house fire in the area of Springville Road and Neptune Avenue with multiple callers reporting it. Assistant Chief Donald Downs (7-5-31) arrived on scene within 2 minutes and notified of well involved wind driven fire in a home at 99 Springville Road and immediately requested mutual aid from East Quogue and Southampton FD's, as well as Hampton Bays Volunteer EMS to the scene. Chief of Dept. Rick Nydegger (7-5-30) arrived on scene 1 minute later and assumed command. Engines 7-5-1 and 7-5-2 arrived at the same time, followed by Tanker 7-5-7 and Rescue 7-5-5 and Utility 7-5-6. East Quogue FD arrived with Chief 7-6-32, Tower Ladder 7-6-11 and Engine 7-6-1. Southampton FD responded to our HQ's and handled the original fire alarm as well as 2 additional alarms and responded to the scene to assist there as well. Hampton Bays VAC treated and transported 3 people from the fire. Units were up at 12:39 pm and the scene was turned over to the Town Fire Marshals office.
